The prospect of being courted by numerous suitors with flashy power point presentations and cartoons didn't appeal to Rincon, who surely would have been the cream of the crop of next season's free agent class. Instead, he has chosen to remain loyal to the team with which he won his first MVP award, at a far lesser price than he could have fetched on the open market after next season. The extension is rumored to be worth $37.5 million over 4 years, which he will sign as soon as such transactions are allowed for the upcoming season. Taking half as much money as some of his fellow lineup mates are making after an MVP season truly shows his commitment and willing to sacrifice for the better good of the team. If only more athletes followed his lead, the sports world would be a better place. Hopefully Charlotte will reward his loyalty with better postseason performances than getting swept in the first round, like what happened this past season.

Another Idea for Recruiting Incentives

This is from grivfmd:

I have done this in other leagues - offer a cash price(which can only be used towards renewel in same league) to whichever owner joining in year X (14) has the best record in year X + 2 (16) -- requires the owner to be in the league 3 years and use the money for year 4 (17)

A pretty solid idea as it requires the new owners to really put some effort into their franchises instead of waiting around for the free season.

If we can't raise enough money for the 4-pack ($90) this is also a good alternative.

Which idea do you prefer? So instead of bumping the thread in Classifieds, posting on other world chat boards and sending loads of invites and sitemails, I have an idea to run by everyone.

Ideally we want owners who will stick around for more than a one and done, and frankly with some of the franchises available, there may be more work than some newbie or regular owner wants to go through. In the past I offered to buy a free season for an owner who would join and play at least two seasons. In this financial market, that's a little more $$ than I want to put out, so I am asking if a group of us can pitch in $5, enough to purchase a 4 pack of teams and distribute 1 free season to any new owner who joins us and plays two seasons (or to make it more enticing, play 1 get 1 free).

Purely voluntary, I'm just looking for a way to stand out from the crowd of worlds that are trying to fill. As an incentive for you, the current Shlabotnik owner, I will offer up my $5 commish credit as a prize for an undetermined contest to all who contribute to the plan above.

If you are interested in contributing, leave a comment or send me a trade chat, sitemail.

Welcome to the Joe Shlabotnik World Blog!

Welcome to the Joe Shlabotnik World Blog!
